Top 10 Destination Wedding Locations
We aren't going to say "no" to squeezing into your suitcase, but we feel it will be less hassle for you, if we simply come along as your wedding planners.
Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular among newlyweds, and there is no question as to why! Countries around the globe are sucking couples in due to their outrageous views, romantic serenity, and adventurous allure. Not to mention, many couples have their most treasured memories outside the mainland's border.
Ok, we promise to stay far from your suitcases and car trunks...but we will provide you with the most sought after, top 10 destination wedding locations according to Conde Naste Traveler.
The Bahamas
These islands are breath taking. They are white, turquoise, green and bursting at the seams with life and energy. There are direct flights from 12 U.S. Cities, and numerous connections through Miami; keeping this destination far enough to make it unforgettable, but close enough to see all of your friendly faces.
Mexico
One of the best parts of having your wedding in Mexico is the location, closely followed by it's relatability. Mexico has been such a popular vacation spot for Americans for so long as it doesn't present the same hesitations as a far away land. A large majority of the population speaks english, the currency is very easy to pick up, and the weather is extremely mild, making the transition efficient and painless; and gorgeous.
Hawaii
I like to say that Hawaii is only related to the U.S. "technically". It is of another world. The landscape leaves us in utter disbelief every time. The mountains rise straight from the ground. The moss and vines twist and turn like something out of a book. The locals are friendly and the fish tacos are friendlier. For your guests there are endless amounts of activities and the history is wonderfully overwhelming. One of us will marry you, please just let us have it in Hawaii.
Jamaica
Jamaica is quickly becoming the most popular wedding destination in the Caribbean. The venues are endless, food is outstanding, and the architecture is a beautiful secret. One thing to keep in mind, many of the top beaches do charge a fee! No gentleman, a speedo will not pass as payment.
Anguilla
"Known for being equal parts friendly and beautiful, this British territory has become one of the most searched destination wedding spots. You’ll have to fly to St. Maarten to get there, and then take a short flight or a ferry ride to the island—making this destination best for smaller parties".(CNT).
Las Vegas
You wont lose your friend on top of a building, you wont have a tiger in your bathroom, and we pray there isn't a baby in your closet. But we get it, map quest takes people on crazy routes. All jokes aside, Las Vegas is still one of the most popular places to say "I do". We will admit, the first thing that comes to mind is neon lights, lots of martinis, and maybe a few dice (see above photo) but there is an ultra luxurious side to Vegas that can get drowned out in the Bellagio Fountains. Just about any amenity can be taken care of for your guests, and they will surely never be bored.
Italy
"Couples are throwing destination weddings in Europe at twice the rate they were just a few years ago, and Italy is topping their lists. If you’re inviting guests, forget Capri and host your wedding in scenic but easier-to-get-to places like Venice, Portofino, or in the Tuscan countryside near Florence, so guests won’t have to take four modes of transportation to get there". (CNT).
Costa Rica
"Central and South America have yet to attract much attention from wedding seekers, but Costa Rica is an exception. Adventurous couples love it for its surfing, volcano hiking, and ziplining—activities that their wedding guests will certainly want to test out. Not all areas are easily accessible, so keep that in mind when looking for venues". (CNT). Let us not forget, it is a fairly painless flight!
Florida Keys
Florida is one of the most beautiful states in our country. (Push all of the plastic flamingos aside). You will give yourself and guests that far off, luxury feel, without the hassle of customs. Vendors are plentiful and the sights are even more so.
Bermuda
"Between its pink-sand beaches, limestone arches (otherwise known as “Moongates”), crystal caves, and UNESCO World Heritage site that just so happens to be the remains of a church, you’ll have plenty of ceremony location options to choose from on this gorgeous, accessible island". (CNT).
Well ladies and gentleman, if there is anything we have all learned today, it's come to the mountains! My goodness we feel as though we should have been wearing SPF this whole time! Maybe 2015 will show us a whole lot more winter weddings! :)
